Zenica Roller

History

A group of enthusiasts and experts in pigeon breeding from the city of Zenica towards the end of the eighties created a new pigeon breed. Zenica Roller is a very attractive in appearance and has emphasized flight and rolling ability. In 1996 Zenica Roller started appearing at pigeon shows throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2002 on the seventeenth international pigeon show in Zenica the standard for this pigeon breed was recognized.

Zenica Roller was created by crossing the Oriental, Zagreb, Sarajevo and Bačka Rollers, and the local pigeons. Since it has many similarities with the Oriental Roller its rolling is similar to that of the Oriental Roller. Specificity of the Zenica Roller is that it rolls while gaining elevation and when rejoining the kit. The pigeon rolls on its back many times, ending it by sitting on its tail, after it rejoins the kit.
